Brand House Copenhagen

:description

Officebuilding in an industrial area of Copenhagen.

Brandhouse is located in Nordhavn, Østerbro, an old industrial area of the city. We’ve seen other areas of the city blossom, when the creative people move into the desolate buildings. We believe this area is next.

The concept is to extrude the existing building up to a full 5 storeys height, continuing the gabled roof, which is so typical for the Copenhagen skyline.

The exterior material is significantly different than the existing building – clean, light and transparent steel mesh on both facade and roof. Behind the aluminium sheet, the building is clad with a light grey roof membrane, perforated with large operable windows. All materials are prefab, to keep the costs down and maintain the industrial feel of the area.

Sun shading is integrated in the design from the beginning and the facade cladding is thus a perforated aluminium sheet, which allows for the daylight to pass through the windows, but is keeping the temperature down.
